David Beckham Takes Olympic Torch By Boat to Opening Ceremony (VIDEO)

David Beckham made a spectacular entrance at the London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony, driving the Olympic Torch into Olympic Stadium by speedboat.

The soccer superstar’s role in the festivities was finally revealed when he, along with younger athlete Jade Bailey, was entrusted with taking the flame down the River Thames and under the Tower of London toward the packed stadium.

And he looked damn good doing it.

We already knew Beckham had Olympic fever — this just takes it to the next level.

    there were far more exciting moments in the opening and all you highlight was him on a speedboat? Get over this childish obsession with him, he’s just a soccer player.

    The Opening Ceremony was one of the best I’ve ever seen. David looked great & I understand he was very instrumental in getting the games to London. Regardless of his appeal all I can say is GO USA!!l

    awful opening ceremony,….. harry potter? the queen jumping off an airplane? james bond theme song? and some very small part of actual british history. most of it had nothing to do with the games. it was visually stunning though but still Beijing wins at that part. the ceremony lacked the meaning of the games, it was irrelevant and at some point it became boring. you could even see the royal family dreading for it to end.. i hope rio has sth better to show

    David Beckham may be JUST a soccer player, but that’s like saying Wayne Gretzky is JUST a hockey player or Michael Jordan is JUST a basketball player! And remember, Beckham was left off the British soccer team…..and I for one, am still shocked by his omission. I hope Britain does not medal in soccer. And yes, that’s my childish frustration showing!!

    I disagree with you im not from the UK and alltough Beijing was spectacular it was very millitaristic and without soul,London was human with a lot of humor and completely different,and very modern (popculture,rock,pop,punk,social media).London is much better .
