No no no! He is one of my favorite character actors. How heartbreaking. I dearly hope he gets the support he needs to be able to see that he is wanted and loved.

That’s too sad…Daniel von Bargen is a great actor ! Hope he gets better :))

  • Chris R

Sad he thought there was nothing to live for. Stupid and sad…hope he gets help.

He has to see value in his life with or without getting affirmation from others. He is valuable all by himself even if people don’t like him.

I love that guy. He is a great comic actor as well as dramatic. He should be in a sitcom, and more movies. I hope he can recover as best he can.

In another article it stated that he’s had some health problems. Msn.com stated that,”He tells the operator that he has already had one leg amputated and was “tired,” referring to the procedure slated for his other leg.” You can read about it here:

    Its very sad.

How stupid..I wish I felt sorry for him but this is ridiculous. I don’t feel sympathy for him because suicide is such a cop out. It makes me angry that some people can be so selfish. Now not only is he still alive, which he clearly didn’t want, he now could potentially have given himself brain damage, which I’m sure will make him hate life more. This just shows that we should all be happy with the life that we have because it is precious. I honestly don’t see how he could see a bullet to the head as leaving this life with dignity, even if he is sick and in pain a bullet to the brain is not a dignified end

In the total absense of judgement, which belongs to the Lord anyway; – (hint, hint people) — I wish this man all the very best in the world, and pray for his family to remain strong and supportive, and for what will be a long and hard recovery to be as burdenfree as possible. Until we walk a mile in anyone’s shoes, – we should not judge. From the outside looking in, most people live somewhat great lives. Travel deep within the spirit before you; and years of sometimes multi-complex burdens, sometimes stemming from as early as thier youth begin to surface. There are many Organizations out there dedicated to helping people who reach thier breaking point. As many as there are however; there are still communities which have very few resources, and sadly, even more existing agencies continue to downsize, or close down completely, becuase of financial issues, – at a time when because of the same; people seem to be at thier most fragile. Often times cutbacks end up causing more harm that money saved, and regardless; when something of high magnitude arrises, it has to be dealt with. Some people fail to realize often times you save a buck now which costs you tripple later. Pay now, or pay later. There have been articles, such as one which mentions specific communities throughout the United States which have significantly high suicide rates. One Lake town in Arizona was mentioned specifically. Suicide is a real issue in this Country, and sometimes, those who commit sucide, or make an attempt to end thier life, – are described by thier friends and family as someone whom they would have never thought capable of even so much as thinking about taking thier own life. Suprising when we are brought up to say we are fine. – How are you today? “I’m fine.”

Dont hold back now Tora; just let it all out. A man who looses his wife to illness, living alone, who has always enjoyed the outdoors is diagnosed with disease. He has no children, and during the next ten years he looses his parents, his closest friend, and his dog of 16 years. Although well accomplished, he hasnt many close friends, and suddenly finds himself struck with an infection which causes the removal of one leg. A painful amputation takes place, following a long recovery, with mandatory medication for various issues. The medication causes lung and liver issues, to which more medication, tests, and monitoring are required. HIs only family, as loving and caring as they are, reside far away. Although he can still drive, he has some issues doing so because of his declining heath and amputation. He spends a lot of time reading, and being alone. His neighbors work nights and are rarely to be seen. Doing his best, his health continues to decline. He begins noticing issues with his eyes, even though he has reading glasses. He’s told his disease is progressing, and his eyesight is fading. He has no insurance, – his plan was dropped because of extensive use before his wife died. He has a nice nest egg, – which continues to drop from high medical costs. His health continues to decline, his energy is sparse. He now requires a magnifying glass, and struggles to read. He misses his wife, regrets not having children, and would give anything just to play golf. His Doctor tells him his circulation is grim, and that his remaining foot would have to be taken. If the disease progresses, there isnt a gurantee further amputation up the leg might not be required. He finds himself struggling to run errands, has a hard time buying food, and is often embarrassed to ask for help. His overall health continues to decline. His medical costs exceed six figures. All along, he slowly looses his smile, and can no longer do the things he loves to do. —- Should someone dealing with these kind of issues just sit around counting the cracks in the ceiling as everything tumbles down? Under what cirucmstances would you reach a braking point? Walk a mile wearing another persons shoes, before we jump fast to judge them. One never knows how they would act after years and years of the same and perhaps worse. Some people use the statement: Quality of life, – when its gone, – day after day, year after year. at what point can a person stop prentending to smile and say : “I’m fine.”

    Wow. You’re ignorant.

I really feel for Daniel Von Bargen. I always admired his work on TV shows like Seinfeld, and films like O Brother Where Art Thou, Lord of Illusions and many others. A very talented man and way underrated and underused as an actor. I listened to his 911 call on the internet and it was heart breaking. By your comment’s, you show that you’re a very loving and compassionate person. Usually in the comments sections of stories on the internet like this, people can be unbelievably nasty and ignorant and without any empathy for other people, so it is great to read comments by someone as obviously kind and caring as yourself. Bless You!
