American Idol Results Twist: Who Was Eliminated After New Fan Save?
“American Idol” had a major twist on Wednesday’s combined performance and results show, one that took a page out of “The Voice” playbook. Get all the details and find out who was eliminated here!
As Gossip Cop has reported, the season 14 live episodes have featured contestants finding out one by one if they are safe based on votes for the previous week’s performances. If he or she did indeed receive enough votes to stay in the competition, the contestant would take the stage to perform in hopes of winning votes again to survive next week’s cut. The last two contestants whose names haven’t been called were considered the Bottom Two, and, as seen last week, the one who received the lowest amount of votes was eliminated.
But that’s not necessarily the case anymore. This week, host Ryan Seacrest introduced a new “Fan Save,” in which it was up to the viewers watching the results live to decide who of the Bottom Two was eliminated and who was saved. Like on “The Voice,” both singers received the chance to perform one more time, and then the audience was instructed to tweet who they wanted to save with “#Save(ContestantName)” during a special voting window. The contestant who received the most Twitter votes was saved, and the one who didn’t was, well, given the boot.
And did we mention it was “Kelly Clarkson Night” with the inaugural “American Idol” winner herself performing and mentoring the contestants? Yeah, there was A LOT going on. So, here’s how things shook out: Daniel Seavey and Rayvon Owen were revealed to be the Bottom Two, and performed “Breakaway” and “Since U Been Gone” respectively. The Fan Save window then opened, and after the votes were cast and tallied, Seavey was ELIMINATED.
Owen won the save, and officially joined Nick Fradiani, Jax, Tyanna Jones, Joey Cook, Quentin Alexander, Qaasim Middleton, and Clark Beckham as the “American Idol” Top 8. At least until next week when the whole process will repeat again to determine the Top 7! Check out the videos below to see the save performances and the final results.
