Daniel Radcliffe Opens Up About His Drinking Problem
Daniel Radcliffe revealed that he was so concerned about his years of boozing that he gave it up entirely.
The actor says in the August issue of GQ that when he was filming Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince, at the age of 18, he became “reliant” on alcohol. “There were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person’s lifestyle that really isn’t suited to me,” acknowledges Radcliffe.
He notes how he was lucky to not be caught by the paparazzi while drunk. “I really got away with that because there were many instances when a shot like that could have been taken,” say Radcliffe.
The Harry Potter star hasn’t had an ounce of alcohol since last August, and wouldn’t even think of having a drink or two at a party. “I do that very unsuccessfully. I’d just rather sit at home and read, or talk to somebody that makes me laugh… There’s no shame in enjoying the quiet life.”
