Daniel Day-Lewis is set to play Abraham Lincoln in a movie to be directed by Steven Spielberg.

Lincoln will focus on the battles the sixteenth U.S. president faced while abolishing slavery and waging the Civil War.

Day-Lewis is a two-time Academy Award winner, most recently for There Will Be Blood.

The Lincoln movie is expected to start shooting in fall 2011, with a fall 2012 release planned.
