Daniel Craig NOT Fired From ‘James Bond’ Franchise, Despite Report
Daniel Craig has NOT been fired from the James Bond franchise, despite an inaccurate webloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim. We’re told it’s not true.
It’s been long-rumored that Idris Elba is being considered to replace Craig in the iconic 007 role, but the actor has consistently denied such reports. In a recent interview with BBC One Radio, director John Ridley praised Elba while talking about working with him in the upcoming film, Guerrilla, and added, “I can’t wait to see him as James Bond quite frankly.”
Following the director’s comment, speculation about Elba playing Bond once again began spreading, but the actor quickly refuted the idea, saying, “I have no idea why he said that.” Celeb Dirty Laundry, however, took this latest situation involving Elba and turned it into a false story with a headline reading, “Daniel Craig Booted Out of James Bond Franchise.” The site’s accompanying article goes on to claim that the franchise’s producers have “already moved on” from Craig, despite the actor having not yet made a decision about returning.
But Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for the actor, who exclusively assures us that he hasn’t been “booted out” of the spy series. The actor still hasn’t come to a determination about returning for future movies, but the webloid’s assertion that producers have fired him is entirely untrue.
In fact, this isn’t the first time that CDL has published a phony story regarding the popular franchise. Gossip Cop previously busted the site for falsely claiming that Taylor Swift was helping Tom Hiddleston win the role of James Bond. That report was entirely fabricated, and this latest one is equally untrue.
