WATCH: D’Angelo Performing “Really Love” On SNL (VIDEO)
D’Angelo performed “Really Love” on this week’s “SNL.” This is D’Angelo’s musical debut on “SNL,” and he’s backed by his new band The Vanguard, made up of drummer John Blackwell, keyboardist Cleo “Pookie” Sample, and guitarists Jesse Johnson, Pino Palladino and Isaiah Sharkey. Check out the video below of his performance of “Really Love.”
“Really Love” is one of the singles off D’Angelo’s new album “Black Messiah,” his first record in 14 years. The song has received praise for its stripped down acoustics, falsettos, and simple lyrics. While D’Angelo hasn’t released a new album since “Voodoo,” his smash hit record from nearly decade and a half ago, he has performed the super sexy song “Really Love” during some of his recent live performances.
After “SNL,” D’Angelo is about to embark on a tour in support of his new album, first playing the legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem before heading across the ocean to Europe. “The Second Coming Tour,” as its being billed, has D’Angelo playing concerts in Switzerland, Germany, France, England, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Belgium. No U.S. dates have been announced yet.
