Dakota Johnson Jokes About Fifty Shades Of Grey During SNL Monologue (VIDEO)
Dakota Johnson opened her “SNL” monologue by joking about Fifty Shades of Grey, building to a surprise appearance of her parents, Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. Check out the video below Johnson’s “SNL” monologue.
Johnson began, “For those of you who don’t know me, I’m currently starring in Fifty Shades of Grey. Fifty Shades of Grey is the novel that made you never want to touch your mother’s Kindle again.” The actress revealed that her dry cleaner won’t look her in the eye anymore, and her dog walker gives her a wink when taking her leash off the wall.
Johnson went on to mock the film’s mediocre reviews, saying, “I have a funny feeling at next year’s Oscars, it’s going to be… not anywhere.” Still, she pointed out, the movie has “already made like $500 million” and has a “very specific group of fans.” At that point, a leather-clad man interrupted, but the star said she wasn’t taking any audience questions. “What if I begged?” he asked, before saying he wanted Johnson to sign wife’s ball gag.
Johnson then quipped, “Now I understand why my parents won’t be seeing my movie,” referencing her awkward red carpet moment with Griffith at the Oscars, where the veteran actress made clear she won’t be watching the explicit movie. Johnson then explained who her parents are, and revealed, “In December of 1988, my mother stood in exact spot and hosted ‘SNL.'”
“And this is true,” she went on, “Right after the show, my father got down on one knee and proposed to her, for the second time. And exactly 9 months later I was born. So I must’ve been conceived after the show or even during the show.” The camera then showed Johnson’s parents sitting in the audience, shielding their eyes. Johnson asked if they were embarrassed to watch her now, and her dad admitted, “We were just afraid you were going to be naked.”
In Fifty Shades of Grey, Johnson plays the role of Anastasia Steele, a young woman who falls under the spell of Christian Grey (played by Jamie Dornan), a billionaire who has her enter his world of bondage and sadomasochism. Check out the full video below. What do you think of Johnson’s monologue?
