Cuba Gooding Jr. Files For Divorce
Cuba Gooding Jr. has filed for divorce, nearly three years after separating from wife Sara Kapfer Gooding.
As Gossip Cop reported, it was Kapfer Gooding who initiated a legal separation in April of 2014 after 20 years of marriage. She cited irreconcilable differences at the time, and sought joint legal and physical custody of their two minor children. But in the time since, neither moved to divorce.
That is, until now. And this time, Gooding himself is taking the lead. In his divorce petition, he similarly asks for joint custody. According to TMZ, the actor also indicated he will pay spousal support to Kapfer Gooding.
But he also requested that their income in the time since the 2014 separation remain separate assets. Gooding has been experiencing a career resurgence of sorts with a highly-publicized portrayal of O.J. Simpson on FX’s critically claimed, “The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.” The role led to nominations from the Emmy Awards and Critics’ Choice Awards.
While Gooding lost at both of those shows, his NAACP Image Award nomination is still pending until next month’s ceremony. Obviously, Kapfer Gooding is not expected to be his date. The former couple, who married in 1994, was high school sweethearts. They have three children together, two of whom are no longer minors. The Goodings are pictured above in 2013.
