Critics Choice Awards Winners 2016

The 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards will honor the best in both movies and television on Sunday, and Gossip Cop has the full winners list!

Held at the Barker Hangar at Santa Monica Airport, “Silicon Valley” star T.J. Miller is hosting the ceremony just one week after the Golden Globes. Taking a play from the Globes’ playbook, this marks the first year the Critics’ Choice Awards will give out honors for both the big screen and the small screen in one show. With the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards and Critics’ Choice TV Awards now combined into one event, there will be many more stars in attendance and many more awards handed out.

As Gossip Cop reported last month, Mad Max: Fury Road leads the pack of nominees with 13 nominations. It will compete for Best Picture with The Big Short, Bridge Of Spies, Brooklyn, Carol, The Martian, The Revenant, Room, Sicario, Spotlight, and the belatedly-added Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There are also film awards for Best Comedy, Best Action Movie, and Best Sci-Fi/Horror Movie.

On the television side, “Fargo” scored the most nods and is up for awards in eight categories, including Best Movie/Miniseries. For Best Drama Series, “Empire,” “Mr. Robot,” “The Knick,” “The Leftovers,” “Penny Dreadful,” “Rectify,” and “UnREAL” are among the nominees. “Black-ish,” “Catastrophe,” “Jane The Virgin,” “The Last Man On Earth,” “Master Of None,” “Transparent” and “You’re The Worst” are all contenders for Best Comedy Series.

Amy Schumer, who is also a Best Actress In A Comedy movie nominee, will be receiving the MVP Award. And aside from the fan-voted Most Bingeworthy award for a television show, all the winners are chosen by the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Broadcast Television Journalists Association. Gossip Cop will be updating the winners list live throughout the Critics’ Choice Awards ceremony.
