Cristie Schoen Codd, Pregnant Food Network Star Contestant, and Husband Believed To Have Been Murdered
Cristie Schoen Codd, a pregnant former “Food Network Star” contestant who went missing with her husband Joseph “J.T.” Codd in North Carolina over the weekend, is believed to have been murdered. Both Codds were reported missing by family on Sunday, leading to a police investigation. On Tuesday, the Buncombe County Sheriff announced the arrest of Robert Jason Owens, who’s been charged with two counts of felony first degree murder and one count of murder of an unborn child.
While an autopsy has not yet been completed to identify the bodies conclusively, the medical examiner says the Sheriff’s Department has collected remains “suspected to be the two missing persons.” Owens has also been charged with felony breaking and entering, and larceny. Authorities found the Codds’ two dogs and vehicles at their residence, but no sign of the couple. According to arrest warrants, investigators believe Owens broke into the home and killed the Codds last Thursday.
Codd appeared on Season 8 of “Food Network Star” back in 2012. She was five months pregnant when she and her husband went missing. According to friends, she’d been providing catering services on film sets, while her husband worked as a key grip. A family member said on Facebook that both Codds were scheduled to begin new work on (different) film projects when they disappeared. Gossip Cop will have updates.
