WATCH: Craig Wayne Boyd Stuns With NEW Blake Shelton Song, Duets With Coach On The Voice Finale (VIDEOS)
Craig Wayne Boyd had the honor of being the first person to ever sing a brand new Blake Shelton song on Monday’s finale of “The Voice.” Check out the videos below!
For part one of the finale, all four finalists were tasked with performing an original song. Boyd’s coach Shelton revealed he’s had a track for years called “My Baby’s Got A Smile On Her Face” that he never recorded. The country superstar, who only had Boyd left on his team, admitted that he quite frankly thought the song was too hard for him to do himself.
Shelton decided, however, it would be the perfect track of Boyd to record and perform, and the contestant ended up blowing everyone away when he took the stage with it. “We all know everyone’s going to go buy it,” Pharrell said of Boyd’s version being available to download. “Man, welcome to your future!”
Gwen Stefani told Boyd that he’s “ripe” and “ready to pick,” while Shelton confessed, “I haven’t been that nervous about a performance on this show maybe ever, maybe since I been doing it as a coach.” He went on to explain again how he’d kept the song hidden for years, but wasn’t willing to give up on it. He told Boyd, “That song was meant for you. It found it’s way to you.”
Boyd returned later in the finale to perform a duet of “Boots On” with Shelton, and then for his third and final song, the single father sang “In Pictures” as a moving tribute to his son. Boyd is up against not one, not two, but three Adam Levine contestants — Damien, Chris Jamison and Matt McAndrew — for the season 7 championship. Does Boyd have your vote?
