Craig Strickland’s Wife Helen Brings Dog That Survived Fatal Boat Trip To Chase Morland’s Memorial Service
Craig Strickland’s wife Helen attended a memorial service on Tuesday night for her late husband’s friend Chase Morland, who also died during a duck hunting trip on Oklahoma’s Kaw Lake. Helen brought along Strickland’s dog Sam, who was also on the trip, but miraculously survived the boat accident.
As Gossip Cop reported, Strickland and Morland went missing on December 27 when their boat capsized after being hit by a winter storm. Authorities discovered Morland’s body later that day, but due to Strickland being surrounded by bushes and wearing camouflage gear, the Backroad Anthem singer’s remains weren’t recovered for a full week. The ultimate cause of death was reported to be hypothermia.
Helen posted an Instagram photo on Tuesday of herself, along with her husband’s black lab Sam, at Morland’s memorial. She wrote, “It was encouraging to be around his wonderful friends and family. Sam was also invited, he has truly been a comfort to all of us. We are so thankful the Lord blessed us with such a extraordinary pup.”
Sam was found alive and well near the scene of the accident shortly after it occurred. Helen later wrote on Instagram, “For everyone wanting to know, Sam is fine. He was a brave boy. He wouldn’t leave Chase’s body until the Warden found him.”
