Craig Ferguson Replaces Monologue with Message About Colorado Shooting (VIDEO)

Craig Ferguson replaced the monologue portion of Friday’s pre-recorded “Late Late Show” with a sober message in the wake of that morning’s Colorado movie theater shooting massacre.

The comedian explained that the episode about to be shown (taped on Thursday, before the tragedy) had opened with a monologue including references to The Dark Knight Rises and Ferguson’s usual silliness, and that it felt “inappropriate” to air the segment as originally planned.

While he “didn’t want to add my rage and despair to everyone else’s,” Ferguson instead extended his sympathies to the victims’ families and noted, “We are all diminished when something like this happens.”

    Out of all the Late Night hosts I have to say Craig is one of the biggest class acts when it comes down to it. I appreciated the opening and I also appreciated how he didn’t pull the whole show, because like he said when something like this happens there is plenty of coverage, and some humor at the end of the day makes a big difference.
