Courtney Love’s Twitter Account Suspended

Courtney Love‘s Twitter account has been suspended as the controversial rocker faces the first high-profile defamation trial over a celebrity’s tweets.
In March 2009, the Hole singer ranted on Twitter against fashion designer Dawn Simorangkir, characterizing her as a drug pusher, prostitute and violent thief.
Love’s tirade is at the heart of a lawsuit heading to court in February in which Simorangkir will test how much leeway an influential Twitter user has when posting allegedly false tweets about another party.
The designer’s side argues that Love’s false statements damaged Simorangkir’s career, entitling her to a hefty payment.
Love’s team insists there was nothing defamatory about the public rant.
In the interim, her Twitter account – @CourtneyLoveUK – has been taken down.
