I have heard that this is a hard movie to sit through and a lot of people do not understand it because it is such a different dialogue but I say bring it on…show me something different. I am so tired of super heros and animation movies, I could scream. I’m ready for me some Rob.

I have seen it 4 times. It’a a brilliant masterpiece of a movie. It is, sort of, based on conversations/discussions, but there is some good action, too. One needs to be focused to keep up with the whole thing as these dialogues carry a lot of meaning (unlike in most of the popular cinema one gets these days). I have read the book, but for those who haven’t, quite a lot of what and why is happening throughout the movie is explained in a mind-blowing last scene. (Or one can watch one of the full press conferences (e.g.Cannes)/ Q&A – they explain a lot as well.) Believe me: Pattinson nailed it. All the praise he gets for it, he deserves completely, juggling the scenes from a spoilt boy to a tough boss, from sarcasm to desperation, etc. His face when it shows Eric’s fascination with death, pain and violence as sth he has not experienced himself yet – it’s priceless. Pattinson was born to be the lead in this movie. Congratulations to DeLillo, Pattinson, Giamatti, Suschitzky, Cronenberg, Shore and the rest of the people who brought this magnificent book to the screen so successfully. P.S. Kendra is not a hooker, she is Packer’s bodyguard.Enjoy the movie

If its one of those cerebral movies I doubt a lot of people will go see it but I’ll give it a chance myself it does look interesting.

it’s one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Even if I like Cronenberg, and even if the actors are good, the story is totally bulls… Don’t be fooled by the trailer !

  • Vanessa

The movie is not for everyone. But Rob is brilliant in it, cold at first and then warming-up, becoming more human as the story progresses.

i can not forgive myself that i could go and see the movie but got sick :( anyway, the moment it comes back to the city i will be there:) Jane is so right (as usual).. every each time i see movies like Avengers (which almost made me throw up, sorry, i was seating too close to the screen) i am asking myself, who do they think their audience are all, idiots? the same goes for “unbreakable” solders winning in fight with thirty terrorists just with their bare hands.. yeah, right.. i wish it was like that. i am glad Robert signed for the role of Maddox.. of course, it’s only a movie.. but i know, Robert is very professional, he is going to do his best to play it realistic and i hope the whole movie will have as less b.s as possible.
    go Cosmopolis!:)

Cosmopolis is Fresh on RT with the critics, and the audience there likes it, too. This trailer is so cool, Rob rocks this role, I love to see him playing an adult, and he has great chemistry with taser girl. He said that scene was so intense, he felt like he’d really had sex. Quite a contrast to those interviews where he’s aware of all the other people in the room, etc.

I disagree, the trailers here are very encouraging and what one gets in the films is even better. All the trailers that I’ve seen seen in my life were the opposite: lots of encouragement and an average movie or a complete let-down of a movie afterwards. That is why I decide to see movies regardless of their trailers, but by doing a bit of a research and I have never been disappointed. The story shows exactly what kinds of people walk this planet these days, so I don’t really see how the truth can be bullshit. Too hard to face it?

Maddox said that his wish/condition before selling the rights to the studio was to keep it as it happened and supposedly the director wants the same. In conservative and politically correct US anything can happen though so I hope they will not make a trashy, cheesy, overdramatised movie out of this. It would be ridiculously stupid and disrespectful. I hope Pattinson will do a good job here, Maddox’s impression of him was very positive, considering his approaching the role.

Mission Black List is not a Hollywood studio film, so your fears are unwarranted. The director is French, and known for his realistic, documentary style. It’s an indie, so the political leanings of any country will not factor into the filmmaking. No need to get hysterical over something that isn’t going to happen.

So glad to read an intelligent review of this movie. Thanks fan. I’m sure it maybe hard to follow, but lookin’ at & listenin’ to Robert Pattinson….nothin’ I love more. He’s my favorite! What I’m afraid of is that it won’t show anywhere near me..{Bel Ami didn’t & fans said it was yanked from theatres too soon even though it was selling tix…so WTH?!} I sincerely hope Cosmopolis gets wider distribution so that moviegoers at least get a chance to see it & make up their own mind. As for me I know I’m gonna love it ’cause HE’S in it. And I’m no kid…I’m 58 year old grandmother. Rob’s the best thing since Elvis.

I too am an older fan of Rob. I just turned 59 and I will go any of Rob’s movies. I loved what you said about Rob being the best thing since Elvis. I love watching his movies because he has so much charisma on screen. As for Cosmopolis, I have read the book and it is hard to understand at first. But since watching the interviews with Rob and Cronenberg I think I understand the story better. I have started reading the book again with a better understanding of the story. Sometimes I really like to watch movies that really make you think. I think I will really like this movie. I too hope that this movie will be in a theatre near me. Bel Ami did not come to a theatre near me, but I watched it several times on VOD. I really liked it.
