The L.A. Coroner’s office has released a report on the manner and cause of Corey Haim‘s death.
A spokesman for the Coroner’s office tells Gossip Cop that the manner of passing is listed as a “natural death,” and the cause of death is “diffuse alveolar damage,” due to pneumonia.
The other conditions listed include hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (a thickening of heart muscle) and coronary arterial sclerosis (a build-up of plaque in the blood vessels).
Although there were prescription and over-the-counter drugs in Haim’s system, the Coroner’s spokesman said they were only found
in trace levels, and “wouldn’t contribute to [his] death.”
“It’s not a drug ovedose,” stressed the Coroner’s office.
One illicit drug detected in the system, however, was marijuana, but it wasn’t listed on the death certificate.
Ultimately, though, what gave out was his respiratory system and his heart, which weighed 530 grams, compared to the average heart, which is about 300 grams.
It was “close to being twice what’s the normal range,” said the spokesman, who noted, ”He was not healthy.”
