Naomi Campbell hits driver, flees the scene; chances are won’t face criminal charges

Update (10:58 PM): Law enforcement officials are saying that Campbell will likely not face criminal charges for this latest incident, because the victim – for some reason – has decided not to pursue the matter.

The police are in pursuit of Naomi Campbell after she slugged her driver in New York earlier this afternoon.

Campbell, according to the NYPD, allegedly assaulted the driver of her Cadillac Escalade on East 58th street and Second Avenue at approximately 3 p.m. today. 

Gossip Cop is told the supermodel struck the driver from the back seat, causing him to hit his head against the steering wheel.

The driver has “bumps and bruises” under his right eye, says a police source.

After the police were called for help, Campbell fled the scene, and the cops are currently still looking for her.

“There shouldn’t be a rush to judgment,” a rep for Campbell tells Gossip Cop. “Naomi will co-operate voluntarily, and there is more to the story than meets the eye.”

Campbell has had several scrapes with the law over the years.

Among Campbell’s “greatest hits”?

In 2000, the model pleaded guilty to assault in Canada after whacking her assistant over the head with a telephone.

In 2007, the model was sentenced to five days of community service, and had to attend anger management classes, after pleading guilty to assaulting her housekeeper with a cell phone.

And in 2008, Campbell was sentenced to 200 hours of community service after pleading guilty to assaulting two British police officers.

    she is NO great beauty,she no halle or beyonce,i wonder how she ever became a supermodel? sure she is attractive in the right light but her attitude and treatment of her staff sucks,

    on another note:

    iam glad to see gossipcop focusing on other celebs for a change,because as of late they have been riding the ‘Robsten’ Rpattz gravy train,

    they need to be fair and objective as they claimed to be and focus on other celebs and stop the shameful exploitation and PR for summit,

    makes you wonder if they are the solution or only contributing to the problem with their constant articles dressed up with fake reporting while playing the sympathy card.

    with that said…… this chick should be thrown in prison if found guilty.

    Wow, logic, interesting when they do find their sources. They are not making up any reporting. If you read the magazines like Star, and The Enquirer now that is fake reporting right there. At least these guys get the truth. Stop bashing on these guys.

    And what I came to say is this. A new twist huh? Seems like Miss Campell got off easy on this one. Unless and I’m just saying unless the driver provoked her or upset her or something. That’s all. but, she does have diva behavior.

    I really wish they’d actually punish her for her continuing crimes. I don’t care if she’s famous or not she needs to learn she is NOT above the law. How many times now has she attacked someone? I’ve read somewhere the number is now at 10. 10 people she has physically attacked. And she’s yet to be sent to jail? Please. If it was an ordinary person they would have been locked up each time. She needs jail, and anger management. Shame her mother didn’t teach her that it isn’t nice to put hands on people under any circumstance.
