Constantine Maroulis Arrested For Domestic Violence, “American Idol” Star Says It Was Self-Defense
Constantine Maroulis was arrested for domestic violence on Wednesday, but is claiming self-defense.
Girlfriend Angel Reed, with whom Maroulis has a 4-year-old daughter, called 911 alleging the former “American Idol” star kicked her in the groin after throwing her on the ground of their New Jersey home. When police arrived, they took Maroulis into custody. Though he was booked at the local jail, he has already posted bail and has been released.
Maroulis’ rep, however, says he was the victim. The spokesperson claims that Reed has a history of violence towards the Rock of Ages star, and that she lashed out on Wednesday because he said he was leaving her. The rep insists to TMZ that Maroulis never hit Reed, but that she threw something at him, causing an injury on his leg.
Maroulis, of course, is best known for his run on “American Idol.” He finished in sixth place during season four in 2005. He went on to a solo singing career, before embarking on acting.
Maroulis and Reed met through Broadway’s Rock of Ages in 2008. They welcomed daughter Malena in 2010, and she’ll turn 5 in December. The couple is pictured above at June’s Tony Awards. Gossip Cop has reached out for comment, and will have updates.
