Conor McGregor NOT Joining ‘Game Of Thrones,’ Despite Report
Conor McGregor is NOT joining the cast of “Game of Thrones,” despite an inaccurate webloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this claim. We’re told it’s not true.
According to HollywoodLife, the UFC champion will be making an appearance on an upcoming episode of the HBO fantasy series. Without bothering to do any fact-checking, the site regurgitated a bogus Belfast Live article that says, “It’s been agreed that McGregor will appear in one of the remaining two seasons of ‘Game of Thrones.’” A so-called “source” tells the site that the fighter “was headhunted as it were by HBO, as one of the ‘Game of Thrones’ directors is a huge UFC fan. They believed that he would be a perfect fit for the show.”
But Gossip Cop reached out to several people involved with the HBO show, none of whom could verify that McGregor was in talks for an appearance. In fact, this story seems to have materialized based on the Irish fighter’s very loose connection to the show. Last year, a video was released of McGregor having a sparring session with Gregor Clegane, the 6-foot-9-inch actor who plays The Mountain on the show. But aside from having spent time with a “Game of Thrones” cast member, there’s no indication McGregor is joining the series.
