Taylor Lautner is scheduled to be Rolling Stone’s cover boy, Gossip Cop has confirmed.
Photos of Lautner posing on a beach – sometimes with his shirt missing – have surfaced this week, leading fans to wonder whether the “Twilight” star might be planned for more than just the magazine’s inside pages.
He is.
As of now, the pop culture bible intends to put Lautner on its cover around the time “New Moon” is released in November. Neil Strauss is rumored to be the accompanying piece’s author.
The next obvious question … was Robert Pattinson considered for the feature? Our sources tell Gossip Cop that Pattinson wasn’t an option, but that Rolling Stone was thrilled to have the younger Lautner, whose part in the sequel is expanded.

I think Taylor should be on the cover. NM is about the relationship between Jacob and Bella. I think Tay Tay should be out there getting some props…
Meh. It’s good for Lautner I guess but I’m not interested in it. On the other hand, if it were Robert on the cover I would snap it up in a heartbeat. Don’t care for Jacob and could care less for Lautner. But it’s still a coup for him.
#2 For GOD’s Sake! Stop saying that ‘New Moon is about Jake and Bella’ Come on New Moon is NOT only about this.. New Moon is about Bella’s depression! Yeah Jake important but it’s doesnt mean New Moon = Jacob!

I won’t buy this issue of Rolling Stone for the same reason I didn’t buy the Entertainment Weekly issue with Kristen and Taylor…I am tired of having Taylor Lautner crammed down my throat! Scummit seems to think they can force the fans to like him but it’s actually having the opposite effect. TL will never have the same level of fame that Rob does and he should just be himself instead of trying to act older and cool. I wish scummit would give him more personal stories to tell other than the same three about ‘gaining 30 pounds”, “the 40 year old woman wanting him to sign her panties”, and ” I worked out on the set with my personal trainer”!
Chloe! New Moon has 563 pages; 308 with Jacob and 255 with Edward so New Moon is not ALL about Jacob!
I will never buy any magazine that Lautner’s on. He’s so vain. If he was chocolate he’d gobble himself right up.
If Pattinson was on the cover I;d buy it but not for this irritating little kid.
I am sick of the ‘Ive put on 30 pounds’ blah blah blah stories and if I see him stand on one hand any more I’ll scream. I cant wait for Rob’s Vanity Fair cover. Pattinson is a movie star. Lautner’s type is a dime a dozen in Hollywood.
Lautner’s generic, and fits in with the Jonas Brothers type of teeny stuff they seem to go for. What on earth would an article be about, anyway? He’s a dropout who can barely put a sentence together other than “I put on thirty pounds of muscle” and talk about his throwing a football.
Bad choice, RS. I’d have much rather seen a Kristen Stewart cover if they were going to go for the twilight crowd. Either she or Pattinson are a lot more interesting.
Awww!!! No one could be a bigger fan of Rob’s but, give sweet Taylor his glory too. He is a great guy, he has worked very hard for the part of Jacob and while everyone is entitled to their opinion, I think having him on RS is a great move on RS’s part. I LOVE Robert and I miss seeing him out an about these days (no I don’t enjoy stalker pics of him and the other cast members either) but, he is not the main character in New Moon so I think it definitely very smart of RS to have Taylor on the cover.
I know I sound like a mother, and that is because I am but, I really can’t stand seeing people knock Taylor he is so sweet and he has worked sooo hard to play the character of Jacob. Not to mention considering he is only 17 he is very mature for his age. So give the guy some credit.
TwiMom–my daughter and I are split–I am Team Edward, of course–Rob is soooo sexy! and she is Team Jacob.
Gossip Cop-please clarify. Rob wasn’t an option because he wasn’t available or because Summit and /or Rolling Stone wanted to promote Taylor, i.e. the Jacob/Bella relationship? Grazie
Raven…come on…chill out. I know that NM is not all about Jacob. But it gives a great insight as to why he was important to Bella and his contribution to the saga.
Why do you guys feel like you got to fight over every little thing?
