Condoleezza Rice “Amazing Grace” Video: Watch Fourth Of July Performance!
Condoleezza Rice is celebrating Independence Day with a stirring performance of “Amazing Grace” in honor of Fourth Of July. Watch below!
In the clip, the former Secretary of State plays the piano as Jenny Oaks Baker, a 2012 Grammy nominee, does the violin with stirring images of the Armed Forces behind them. Rice wrote on Facebook, “Amazing Grace has always held a special place in my heart. It seemed only appropriate to release the video in conjunction with the 4th of July weekend as we recognize the blessings we have in this country and the sacrifices of our servicemen and women for our freedom.”
For those unaware, Rice is actually a classically trained pianist, and planned on a music career before going into politics. Audio of her July Fourth performance is available on iTunes as a single. All the proceeds are going to the Wounded Warriors Project, as the collaboration is intended to be a tribute to America’s military.
As Gossip Cop reported, a different “Amazing Grace” performance had the country in awe recently. President Obama unexpectedly sang the historic song last week at the funeral for South Carolina State Senator and Reverend Clementa Pinckney, who was murdered in the Charleston Church Shooting. Many stars took to Twitter to praise Obama for the moving performance. How does Rice’s compare? Check out the video below, and tell us what you think.
