The degenerative brain disease is often suffered by pro sports players with a history of repetitive head trauma. The trailer shows Smith’s character battling NFL executives, who believe news of the affliction will go against corporate interests that fuel the business of sports, and decide to keep the dangerous medical risks a secret.
The movie also stars Alec Baldwin, Luke Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Arliss Howard, Stephen Moyer, Eddie Marsan, Paul Reiser, David Morse and Albert Brooks. It was written and directed by Peter Landesman, who was also behind the 2013 John F. Kennedy assassination drama Parkland. The movie hits theaters on December 25.
