Conan O’Brien Records Show, Will Release Vinyl Album
10:31 am, June 11th, 2010
Forget television and the theater stage.
Soon you’ll be able to hear Conan O’ Brien on a record player.
The late-night comic recorded a performance at Third Man Records, a recording studio owned by The White Stripes’ Jack White.
He plans to release it as a vinyl album.
Really.
“I’m going back in time!” O’Brien told the crowd, tracing his path from “Tonight Show” host to vinyl recordings. “Next week I’ll be on vaudeville. Then I’ll be a steamship captain.”
O’Brien’s set list — played mostly straight — included his host’s own hit “Seven Nation Army,” as well as Elvis Presley’s “Blue Moon” and Radiohead’s “Creep.”
Invoking his humor, O’Brien also sang what’s become his trademark version of Willie Nelson‘s “On The Road Again,” changing the lyrics to, “My old show again/I just can’t wait to get my old show again.”
O’Brien’s late night program on TBS premieres November 8.
