Conan O’Brien Going to TBS

Conan O’Brien is going to TBS.

Here’s what’s known at the moment:

O’Brien will be doing the show at 11:00pm four nights a week (Monday through Thursday) from Los Angeles, beginning in November.

The show doesn’t have a name yet.

A source tells Gossip Cop that “Lopez Tonight” host George Lopez reached out to O’Brien personally. Lopez’s show will move to midnight.

Negotiations are still unfinished, but it’s expected that O’Brien staples Andy Richter and Max Weinberg will be back.

O’Brien broke off talks with Fox after a number of issues could not be resolved.

TBS has now issued a press release…

“I can’t think of anything better than doing my show with Conan as my lead-in,” says Lopez. “It’s the beginning of a new era in late-night comedy.”

“In three months I’ve gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters, and now I’m headed to basic cable,” says O’Brien, joking, “My plan is working perfectly.”

“Conan has been the comedic voice for a generation. TBS already has a huge audience of young comedy lovers, and Conan’s show will give these fans even more reasons to watch our network,” says Steve Koonin of Turner Entertainment.

O’Brien’s “Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour” begins today in Eugene, Oregon.

    Actually according to CNN he’ll be on 4 nights a week. Good for Conan. Going to TBS is probably better anyways since he’ll never bring in the same ratings as Leno and Letterman. It won’t look so bad being on TBS instead of Fox or ABC.

    While I’m very glad Conan will be back on late night television, it’s a shame that this move will probably hurt Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.
