Conan O’Brien Marches Toward “Tonight Show” Finale

For one of his final broadcasts as host of “The Tonight Show,” and just “three days away from the biggest drinking binge in history,” Conan O’Brien continued to bring the heat with his Tuesday monologue.

Among the highlights:

- Describing his trip through Universal Studios’ new “Tunnel of Litigation” ride

- Disparaging NBC executives (in Spanish) as “brainless sons of goats who eat money and crap trouble”

- Discussing an amusing list of things he might do with his imminent free time

UPDATE – 3:55 PM -

The most memorable moment, though, may have come courtesy of surprise guest (and longtime O’Brien favorite) Norm MacDonald (himself a casualty of NBC late night). MacDonald presented O’Brien with a gift basket… one he purchased last spring to congratulate the new “Tonight” host on his gig, “Something they can never take away from you,” as the card reads.

“You are the new king of late night,” MacDonald proclaims. “Long live the king!”

    Out of this controversy about Jay Leno and the potential bumping of The Tonight Show, comes a different idea that some people have had. Why not have Conan O’Brien venture out to see what else he can do? Leno has had his time and fame. Let Conan keep the Tonight Show spot. Conan has paid his dues.

    all this talk of rights sounds like its a rally against the openly racist hatred that was spouted against Barak (an advocate for low income tenants for years if memory serves correctly). these guys are employees who have a following just like a lazy clientèle.
    if they move them too far the lazy couch potatoes wont follow them(bother recording or any other pro active action).
    i say throw them both out on the street with their millions, have a jolly big cry and pretend they have such a hard life then start re runs of seasame street and try and get the average education of the average american at least up to high school entry level.
