WATCH: Conan O’Brien Visits Letterman, Hosts Take Turns Ripping Jay Leno

VIDEO

(Worldwide Pants)

Two years after he lost “The Tonight Show,” Conan O’Brien appeared on Thursday’s “The Late Show with David Letterman,” and the two hosts spent much of their time talking about mutual enemy Jay Leno.

It marked O’Brien’s first visit to Letterman in more than a decade, and from the very first moments — when the two talk icons sat in awkward silence — it was clear this would not be a typical “Late Show” interview.

The “Conan” host talked about his relationship with Leno before and after the 2010 “Tonight” debacle, and also shared a very funny anecdote about the immediate aftermath of his “demotion” from the show.

Letterman, meanwhile, talked about his glee in seeing the O’Brien-Leno fight from afar and touched upon his own (very long) history with Leno, whom he says was always the funniest guy but also a “brat.”

How long can you rehash all this. Give it a rest already, BOTH of you. You are bitter pathetic men. And Conan, you were actually the bully in this whole fiasco, not the victim. They promissed you Jay’s show after you put NBC under unlitmatum. They gave it to you (took it from Jay), you couldn’t do a good job and NBC gave it back to Jay. End of story. Why are you bitter at Jay? Be angry at NBC, if anyone.

anyone else think Conan looks a little like Bruce Jenner??

I agree, why be angry and bitter at jay — NBC is the one to be angry at. These grown men act so childish, it is truly sad.

could never stand conan, he’s just ignorant. was so glad when jay went back to the tonight show. don’t care much for letterman either. i really miss johnny carson, i was heartbroken when he retired, always hope he would change his mind and come back. but now he’s gone and can’t come back

Jay Leno actually announced the time of his Retirement from the Tonite Show 5 years before NBC GAVE the Show to Conan. If you are going to tell someone to “get over it” then know the facts. The only reason Jay got the show back is because he is a spoiled brat who couldn’t cut it in prime time.
Maybe when the guy who you replace at the fryer decides he doesn’t really like Wendy’s better, they should give him your job?

Oh, it seems that you don’t know your facts. Yes indeed, Leno annoucned 5 years prior that he will retire — that was a forced retirement due to Conan putting NBC under unlimatum. In 2004 (or so) Conan told NBC that he will leave the network unless he gets the Tonight show. NBC got Leno to agree that he will retire in 5 years and promised to give the show to Conan. Leno agreed to give up the show after 5 years, which he did. But Conan did not deliver expected ratings and NBC asked Jay back to host the Tonight Show (at that time Jay’s 10 p.m. show was not doing well so Jay was starting to look around for other opportynities, and NBC did not want to lose him). So, once again. Why be angry at Jay?

I love Conan and I prefer David Letterman over Jay Leno! I think David and Conan would had this interview earlier around when the whole drama of the Tonight Show was going on between Jay and Conan if Conan could but I’m sure someway NBC had forbid him to…
It something the two have in common now and that is why they were talking about it. I don’t think either are bitter because David Letterman career turned out fine and so has Conan’s.
