Stars Celebrate College Signing Day With Michelle Obama (PHOTOS)
A number of stars celebrated National College Signing Day with Michelle Obama at the Harlem Armory in New York City on Tuesday. The third annual event, hosted by the First Lady, is a tradition to celebrate students going to college. See celebrities showing their school colors in the photos below.
Among the celebrities at the event, wearing T-shirts from their alma maters and encouraging the 4,000 soon-to-be college students in attendance to continue their educations, were Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone, Julianna Margulies, Allison Williams, Robert De Niro, Common, Aidy Bryant, Jay Pharoah, Carmelo Anthony, Darren Criss, and Tracee Ellis Ross. Obama, who attended both Princeton University and Harvard Law School, wore a T-shirt from her undergraduate school. The First Lady also posed for photos with hundreds of high school seniors who are signing up to attend college.
In a statement released by the White House, Obama said, “If we want to truly lead the world again in terms of young people with a college degree, we should celebrate students going to college the same way we celebrate athletes and celebrities.” She added, “Education should be that important for every single person in this country.”
As a result of all the celebrities tweeting about the event, the hashtag #CollegeSigningDay and its goal of #ReachHigher trended on Twitter. Check out the photos below of the stars celebrating National College Signing Day in their school T-shirts.
