Coldplay Holds Moment Of Silence, Plays “Imagine” In Paris Tribute (VIDEO)
Coldplay held a moment of silence and played “Imagine” in tribute to Paris at a concert on Friday. Watch below.
As Gossip Cop reported earlier, Coldplay was supposed to live stream its show from Los Angeles, but called off the plans in the wake of the terrorist attacks. But for people already en route to the venue, the group hosted a stripped-down concert. The evening began with a moment of silence, before a chilling cover of John Lennon’s iconic song.
In a statement prior to the show, the band said, “Tonight’s live stream for TIDAL & KROQ has been postponed out of respect for the terrible events in Paris. All tickets will be valid for the rescheduled show, with details to follow soon. For those of you already down at the venue and those on your way, we’ll play a short set of old material so that your journey isn’t wasted.”
“We send our love and prayers to the people of Paris,” continued the message, which was signed “Love Coldplay.” A make-up date for the full concert and live stream has not yet been announced. As Gossip Cop reported, Justin Bieber opted to move forward with his own live stream from the Staples Center in L.A., explaining on Twitter that he wanted to “bring light and hope to those hurting.”
A clip of Coldplay’s “Imagine” performance can be seen below, as well as video of the whole concert. Front man Chris Martin ended with the words, “God bless.” Watch below.
