Coldplay Halftime Show Video: Watch Super Bowl 50 Performance With Beyonce And Bruno Mars Here!
It began with Coldplay performing “Viva La Vida” to an enthusiastic crowd amidst a technicolor backdrop. After that they played “Paradise” and then “Adventure of a Lifetime.” From there, Coldplay threw to Bruno Mars, who played “Uptown Funk.” And as soon as he was done, Beyonce and her dancers began performing “Formation.” Then Beyonce, Mars, and Coldplay all together performed a rendition of “Uptown Funk.”
After a montage of some of the greatest performances in Super Bowl history, Coldplay performed “Fix You,” which Beyonce and Mars accompanied the band for in a big finish.
As Gossip Cop reported, Coldplay was first confirmed as the 2016 Super Bowl halftime show headliner in December. Frontman Chris Martin said the concert would pay tribute to the annual event’s history in honor of it being the 50th anniversary of the Super Bowl. That’s where Beyonce and Bruno Mars came in, having previously served as the show’s headliners in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
Beyonce’s appearance came just one day after she surprised fans by dropping “Formation.” She and Martin are close friends, and collaborated together on “Hymn For The Weekend,” which is featured on Coldplay’s latest album, A Head Full Of Dreams. The music video for the track, released late last month, was criticized by some for appropriating Indian culture.
As for Mars, he only confirmed his long-rumored participation in this year’s Super Bowl on Friday. He and Beyonce now join a very small group of stars, such as Justin Timberlake, who have performed at more than one Super Bowl. How does this year’s concert compare to the past, particularly the 2015 show with Katy Perry, Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliot?
