Cody Simpson Runs Torch Relay For 2016 Rio Olympics (PHOTOS)
Cody Simpson and his sister Alli participated in the 2016 Coca-Cola Olympic Torch Relay in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Friday. The Australian singer and his sibling were given the opportunity to run through the streets of Rio carrying the Olympic flame in an event held prior to the opening ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics. Following the relay, Simpson posted an Instagram photo of himself holding the torch, and wrote, “So stoked to be here in Rio running with the Olympic flame today representing Australia. A pretty serious honor to be here, lookin forward to the opening ceremony this evening. Cheers @cocacola #thatsgold.”
Along with photos from the run, Alli later wrote on Instagram, “Today was completely surreal!! a milestone in a young ones life. to run with the Olympic flame in the official torch relay, day of the opening ceremony.” She also added, “An absolutely breathtaking honor – thank you @cocacola & to anyone & everyone who helped make this possible – my life has changed, this will stay with me forever! I love Brazil. lets go team AUS.”
Meanwhile, Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima had the honor of carrying the Olympic torch during an event on Thursday night. The opening ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics kicks off at 8 p.m. on NBC, and Gossip Cop will have a live stream available to watch online!
