CMT Music Awards Nominations 2017

(CMT)

The nominations for the 2017 CMT Music Awards were announced on Tuesday. Check out the full list of nominees below!

The CMT Music Awards annually honor country music videos and television performances by country stars. Unlike most awards shows, the winners are chosen by fans, who are able to vote online via CMT’s website. For 2017, a whopping 14 acts are nominated for the top prize, Video of the Year, although a narrowed-down list of finalists will be revealed during the actual ceremony, with viewers able to do real-time voting to pick the ultimate winner.

Among the notable nominees is Blake Shelton, who scored a nod for Male Video of the Year, despite being shut-out by the CMAs last fall and the ACMs earlier this year. The CMTs also offer some cross-over appeal in the CMT Performance of the Year category, thanks to unlikely collaborations that are featured on the network’s “CMT Crossroads” show. Now Alicia Keys, Meghan Trainor, Jason Derulo and Nick Jonas could be become country music awards winners.

The nominations announcement comes a week after CMT announced “Nashville” star Charles Esten will host, replacing Erin Andrews, who presided over the show for the last two years. Another significant change this year is the venue for the awards show. While the ceremony typically takes place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, the Predators continuing success in the NHL playoffs has forced the CMTs to move to the Music City Center.

Regardless of the location, Shelton, Thomas Rhett, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and Brett Eldredge are already signed on to perform. Gossip Cop will have full coverage when the show airs live on June 7. Check out the full list of nominations below!
