No Truth to Claims Brad Pitt Has a Cleo-Part-ra in Jolie Pic

Not long after Gossip Cop confirmed that movie producer Scott Rudin purchased the rights to Stacy Schiff‘s new book Cleopatra: A Life, and that a filmed adaptation is in development with Angelina Jolie, rumors began to abound that Brad Pitt would star opposite his real-life love as the Queen of Egypt’s lover Marc Antony.
The Daily Mail, for instance, ran a piece titled, “Angelina Jolie signs up to play Cleopatra in new film (while Brad Pitt is lined up for role of Marc Antony).”
The tab’s story drew comparisons to the production of Elizabeth Taylor’s 1963 film, Cleopatra, when she and co-star Richard Burton, both married, fell in love, much as Jolie and the married Pitt were smitten on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
But a rep for Rudin tells Gossip Cop that Pitt has not been “lined up,” as reported by the Mail. In fact, there have been no conversations to date about Pitt taking the Marc Antony role.
