It’s the best Easter Weekend opening ever.

Miley Cyrus vehicle The Last Song has earned $25.6 million after five days (it was released on Wednesday), including $16.2 million during the weekend.

Further down the chart, The Runaways posted a $2,179 per-screen average in its third week of limited release.

ORIGINAL POST – 4/2/10

Well, that was quick.

A day after Miley Cyrus took the top box office spot with The Last Song‘s solid Wednesday debut, Clash of the Titans roared into theaters with an estimated $4.2 million Thursday night, making it the overwhelming favorite not just to win the holiday weekend, but to set a record in the process.

Aided by 3D screenings and starring all-time champ Avatar‘s Sam Worthington, Clash is projected to rake in as much as $70 million by the end of Sunday, making it Easter Weekend’s best ever performer.

Scary Movie managed to earn $40 million in 2000.

The latest Tyler Perry film, Why Did I Get Married Too, is the weekend’s other big release.

Miley’s movie is tanking because everyone knows Nicholas Sparks books and movies mean just one thing…someone has to die! No one wants to sit through two hours of anticipating one of the characters dying.

*munches popcorn*… Told you!… This fight is even more entertaining than some movies themselves… :)

Sam Worthington sure has some great stuff around… happy for him!… keep on the good working…

    Thanks GC!… :D… You’re making me a movie-addict… that’s nice!… :)

Any word on how the Runaways is expected to do?

Miley’s movie is projected to do 16 million for the 3-day weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun), which is the normal measurement for an opening weekend. Not exactly a blockbuster and others who have come in at 20-21 million for a 3 day weekend have been called flops. It’s also highly panned by the critics. Just shaking my head.
