Clark Beckham, Michael McDonald American Idol Finale Video: “Takin’ It To The Street” Performance — WATCH!
Clark Beckham performed with Michael McDonald on the “American Idol” finale on Wednesday. Together they sang a powerful rendition of “Takin’ It To The Streets,” with both on piano. Watch below!
As Gossip Cop has reported, Beckham was long considered the season 14 frontrunner. He broke out from the pack once the contestants were whittled down to the Top 24, and earned legions of fans as the live episodes continued. That said, he seemed to stumble over the last few weeks, just as fellow finalist Nick Fradiani began gaining ground. That left the judges feeling the victory was ultimately up for grabs.
But before the winner was revealed on Wednesday’s live finale, Beckham got the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to simply jam with five-time Grammy winner McDonald. The aspiring star had previously performed “Takin’ It To The Streets” during the Top 11 week, when the theme was “party songs.” We doubt he imagined then that he’d be doing it as a duet with McDonald weeks later.
Beckham was supported at the finale by his parents and grandfather. When his dad was asked how he’s feeling, he hilariously responded, “Like this!” and just opened his mouth wide. Shortly before that, both Beckham and Fradiani were presented with new cars. Ultimately, though, Beckham lost when the final result was revealed.
