Clark Beckham “Every Breath You Take” American Idol Video: Singer’s “Beautiful” Performance Gives “Goosies” — WATCH!
Clark Beckham did a “beautiful” and emotional performance on “American Idol” on Wednesday that gave Jennifer Lopez the “goosies.” Check out the video below!
It was revealed Beckham had survived the night’s double elimination, and then he had to immediately take the stage for “’80s Night.” It was a big risk taking on such a beloved song like The Police favorite, but Beckham hit the notes and the emotion that the performance required, even after rejecting advice from mentors Scott Borchetta and Boy George.
“Beautiful, Clark,” Keith Urban told him afterward. “What was great about it was it really showed a much more heart side of you that that I hadn’t really felt — not just seen, but felt. You really took me on a journey, chorally, melodically, emotionally… You brought the pain to it in a way I never heard before.”
Jennifer Lopez told Beckham, “I loved it. I got the goosies that time. Finally some goosies for me!” The superstar went on, “It felt really good. What can I say? Everything you did with it was absolutely beautiful. It really showcased your voice…. I think everybody felt that across America tonight.”
And Harry Connick Jr. did a fake-out, first telling Beckham that he had both good and bad news. The judge said, “The bad news is that that group of people over there [the other contestants] is extremely dynamic, big performers, running all over the stage and running across the stage.” Then he added, “The good news is you don’t have to do any of it. You stand right where you are and sing, and you’re going to be just fine.”
After Ryan Seacrest pointed out that the panel was mesmerized, Beckham explained that, as Urban noted, he was really going for the “pain” of the track. It was all very chilling, but in a good way. Watch below, and tell us what you think!
