Ciara has been denied sole custody of her and ex-fiance Future’s one-year-old son, baby Future. A Los Angeles judge ruled on Monday that the former couple will share joint custody of their child.

Ciara and her attorney reportedly disparaged Future in court, trying to convince the judge the rapper is a bad father and unsuited to care for their child. However, the judge ignored the singer’s pleas and granted Future’s request for shared custody of the boy.

As Gossip Cop has reported, Ciara and Future have been engaged in a bitter custody battle and dueling lawsuits since their baby was born. Both have accused the other of being an unfit parent and sued each other for defamation as a result. In February, Ciara hit the rapper with a $15 million slander and libel suit for painting her as a bad mom during a July 2015 radio interview, as well as slamming her over the baby custody battle on Twitter.

And last month, Future filed a countersuit against his ex-fiancee, insisting her lawsuit was created for publicity purposes. The rapper further accused Ciara of parading their son around in public with her fiance, NFL star Russell Wilson, to create more attention for herself. In his suit, Future demanded Ciara pay his legal fees and other unspecified punitive damages. Both of their defamation lawsuits are still pending.
