Christopher Mintz-Plasse, McLovin From ‘Superbad,’ Mistaken For UCC Shooting Hero
Christopher Mintz-Plasse, best known for playing McLovin in Superbad, is being mistaken on social media for Chris Mintz, the heroic bystander who was shot several times when he charged at the Umpqua Community College shooter in Oregon.
As Gossip Cop reported, a gunman opened fire at the UCC campus on Thursday, killing more than 10 people and injuring several others. The shooter, Chris Harper Mercer, died as well, although it’s yet to be clarified if he was shot by police or committed suicide.
Mintz, an army veteran, jumped into action during the incident by confronting Mercer and preventing him from firing at a group of fellow classmates. Mintz was shot multiple times during the school massacre, and is currently in stable condition at an Oregon hospital.
Many Twitter users, however, have been mistakenly sending Mintz-Plasse, the actor, praise and well-wishes following the shooting. One user wrote, “Get well soon, that was Heroic to do, May God continue to Bless you and your family.” Another follower tweeted, “Get well soon. The whole country is in your corner.”
Mintz-Plasse took to Twitter to clarify, “The heroic Chris Mintz who was shot yesterday is not me. All your tweets are so thoughtful and beautiful, please go find his loved ones… And send the positivity his way.” The actor later added, “So much love for the real Chris Mintz.”
