A GoFundMe has been set up to aid Christina Grimmie’s family by Selena Gomez’s stepdad, who managed the late singer.

As Gossip Cop has reported, Grimmie was fatally shot following a concert in Orlando on Friday. The news has hit Gomez particularly hard, as her stepfather Brian Teefey has served as Grimmie’s manager through LH7 Management since 2010. The two young stars began performing together that year, and Grimmie was one of the opening acts on Gomez’s 2013 “Stars Dance” tour.

On Saturday afternoon, Gomez tweeted the above photo, writing, “My heart is absolutely broken. I miss you Christina.” And now Teefey has confirmed he is behind the GoFundMe account that has been set up in Grimmie’s honor to help her family with financial expenses. “Words cannot begin to describe the pain I am feeling,” he says in a statement posted on the fundraising page.

Teefey goes on, “I learned this business through the eyes of a father and Christina was like a second daughter to me. All I wanted to do was assist her in achieving her musical dreams while protecting her from the pitfalls associated with the business. I never could have imagined this horrific event being one of the pitfalls needing to be avoided.”

Referring to Grimes’ his family, he notes, “As family, mother, father, and brother made the ultimate family sacrifice to support Christina on her musical journey. They did nothing but love her and support her as family the best they knew how, the only worry I want them to have at this point is that of recovery.”

In the 13 hours since the GoFundMe account was launched, more than $12,000 has come in, far exceeding the goal of $4,000. And the number of individual donations is approaching the 500-mark. If you would like to donate, go to www.gofundme.com/christinagrimmie
