Christina Grimmie Funeral Held
A private funeral for Christina Grimmie was held on Thursday.
Family members and close friends gathered in New Jersey, Grimmie’s home state, to lay her to rest in a private service. On Friday afternoon, the public will be welcomed to the Fellowship Alliance Chapel in Medford for a memorial. A formal service will follow at 8 p.m. Eastern.
A vigil, attended by Grimmie’s brother Marcus, was previously held on Monday, just two days after the singer’s murder. As Gossip Cop has reported, Grimmie was gunned down by a man named Kevin James Loibl as she signed autographs following a concert in Orlando last Friday night. Marcus tackled the gunman, who then committed suicide.
Marcus, who police hailed as a “hero” for potentially saving the lives of others, wrote on Facebook earlier this week that Adam Levine had offered to pay for Grimmie’s funeral. It’s not clear if the family accepted the offer, or if “The Voice” star, who coached Grimmie back in 2014, attended the private funeral. Levine has not publicly commented on the tragedy since releasing a statement on Sunday.
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe campaign set up by Grimmie’s manager Brian Teefey, who also happens to be Selena Gomez’s stepfather, has raised more than $180,000 in less than a week. The money is expected to used to help the Grimmie family relocate in the wake of the star’s death.
