Christina Grimmie Dead: Carson Daly Pays Tribute To “The Voice” Singer On “Today” Show – WATCH VIDEO
Carson Daly paid tribute to Christina Grimmie on the “Today” show Saturday morning, just hours after “The Voice” singer died. Watch below.
As Gossip Cop reported, Grimmie was shot by a gunman following an Orlando concert on Friday night. She later died from her injuries. The star was 22.
The news has sent shockwaves throughout the music community, but “The Voice” family is particularly affected. Grimmie was a beloved contestant when she placed third on Adam Levine’s team on season 6 in 2014. And on “Toda,” Daly expressed shock and sadness over her death.
Calling into the morning show, the host of the NBC competition said, “I just think we’re all still in shock. We’re just so saddened by the news of Christina, who’s just such an incredible talent and an incredible person. It just seems so fresh.”
“I kind of woke up in the middle of the night here on the East Coast, and heard the story that she had been shot, and then, of course, the bad news of her passing,” Daly went on. “I mean, it’s just so sad. So young… She was special.”
He continued, “She would walk in a room, and she had an infectious laugh. She was determined, she was confident. But she was incredibly talented. You would never forget meeting her. I’m shocked she didn’t actually win season 6. Her star was shining so bright, which certainly makes this tragedy that much harder this morning.”
Daly also noted, “We know, as a show, we’re thinking about her, her mom, and her dad, and her brother… And another senseless loss to gun violence. I mean, how many times do we do these stories?” As Gossip Cop noted earlier, the TV personality also tweeted his remembrances of Grimmie.
They are pictured together above just last fall, during one of Grimmie’s return appearances on “The Voice.” Check out video of Daly’s full comments below.
