CLAIM: Christina Applegate “Headed for a Meltdown”

“Christina Applegate Meltdown” blares a headline in the National Enquirer, which claims the sitcom star “is so stressed that friends fear she’s headed for a meltdown!”

According to the tabloid, the “Up All Night” star “is struggling to juggle the demands of her weekly series, her fiance and their 1 1/2 year old daughter Sadie.”

A so-called “source” for the Enquirer alleges that, after recovering from breast cancer, Applegate “welcomed the distraction of work… but now she feels that she made a colossal mistake.”

The magazine’s “source” goes on to claim that Applegate’s time-intensive TV show has prevented her from planning her wedding, and even from having another child.

“She desperately needs time off,” the “source” dramatically says, “but she can’t can’t seem to jump off the treadmill. She’s falling apart!”

Seriously?

Hardly.

Here’s what’s really going on: The National Enquirer saw Applegate’s recent Twitter rant about the paparazzi, and decided to sensationalize a story about the actress supposedly nearing a breakdown.

In any case, it’s NOT TRUE.

A rep for Applegate assures Gossip Cop that she’s doing just fine, pointing out that when it comes to the Enquirer‘s claims, “Consider the source.”

    She has a TV show? Not trying to be cute, was just surprised to read that. Does the show ‘advertise’ itself? I thought I was up on knowing what shows were out there, what they are about and who’s in them.

    I have to reevaluate my life’s perspective now.

    Do you have any addictions? Do you drink? I don’t know why people have to criticize everyone else and their lifestyles. I’ve been told that cigarettes are as addicting as heroin. I haven’t had one for 5 years, but believe me there are many times in a week that I feel like a smoke. I would guess that if we had it all to do over again, most of us would never have picked up that ‘first’ one.
    There are many types of cancer and many things that cause cancer; the air we breathe, food we eat, and water we drink to name a few.

    Heroin, as well as other recreational drugs, have appeasing effects on the mind and body. Cigarettes are the most vile, stinky, nastiest tasting thing on this planet. Not to mention how old smokers look, cancer, and other serious diseases you can get from smoking. I can see how drugs could be addictive… Cigarettes?… Heck NO.

    They actually taste great, and they smell awesome. The down side is it is a pointless habit with serious health consequences.

    I quit two and half years ago and I wish I had never started in the first place but saying that heroin and other ‘recreational drugs’ are worse is kind of misleading.

    The fact that she smokes makes her seem more “real” to me. I would like to be consulted on her fashion wardrobe….I don’t think they are capturing her finer, distinctive points, mostly having to do with her face.

    we all have our addictions. I quit smoking and drinking over 20 yrs ago and it was the easiest thing for me to do but I’m hooked to damn short bread cookies and can’t get enough of them. hmmm……
