Christina Aguilera Sings “At Last” at Etta James Funeral (VIDEO)

Etta James’ funeral was held on Saturday, with a number of high-profile entertainers joining the late singer’s friends and family at a Los Angeles church.

James died earlier this month, having battled leukemia and other ailments.

At the service, Rev. Al Sharpton delivered a eulogy that included a message from President Obama.

Stevie Wonder performed “Shelter in the Rain,” and Christina Aguilera sang James’ signature song, “At Last.”

    She had so much strength to sing that song esp since she met Etta and was a huge fan of hers. You can tell she wanted to cry but she sang the heart of the song and you can feel the emotion. Christina Aguilera that was wicked!!!!!

    I remember watching some interview with Etta and she was asked if she could choose someone to play her in a movie who would she want. She said Christina was the one with the voice to play her. A great tribute to a great woman.

    Actually Beyonce wasn’t even their first choice, it was Jennifer Hudson. But she declined because she was still grieving so Beyonce went.

    I’ve always loved her performance of Etta’s songs but there’s something about this one that is just so great. The setting, the mood, the realness of the way she’s singing, even shaky at times, it’s great. She said she couldn’t get through the song in rehearsals because it was emotional for her. It was such a great performance and really shows the haters that Christina can sing very great and beautifully when she’s not just having fun and singing in the moment on stage. Aside from that, also a great tribute to a legend.

    I guess I’m the only one that thought it was good but not great. Don’t get me wrong I like Christina A. I just wish she would sing and stop the dragging the notes out to long, It gets to be a little ridiculous…JMO…

    There is NO evidence that Beyonce was second choice to sing at the Inauguration….Beyonce had just portrayed Etta wonderfully in Cadillac Records and that is why At Last was getting repopular. That is a lie about any Jennifer Hudson being considered! Beyonce was singing the song in the movie and on award shows,so NO, Jennifer was NOT involved in that discussion.
