Christina Aguilera NOT “Fired” From “The Voice,” Despite Coach Changes
Christina Aguilera was NOT “fired” from “The Voice,” despite confusion and misinformation about the NBC competition’s recent coaching changes. Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight.
As Gossip Cop reported on Friday, season 11 this fall will feature Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys as full-time coaches. The two stars, who have both served as guest advisers, are expected to join veteran coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. It will mark the first time the panel features two women, instead of the usual one.
But since Aguilera is the current female coach on season 10, much is being said about her not being one of the female coaches on the next season. Celeb Dirty Laundry, for instance, asks, “Christina Aguilera Fired From ‘The Voice’ Due to Feud With Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton?” The site writes, “It seems a little strange after all of the drama Christina Aguilera created just to come back to ‘The Voice,’ she would leave on her own accord after one season.”
CDL continues, “General consensus among ‘Voice’ fans is that Christina was fired because of her constant problems with Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, or ‘pushed out’ by veteran star Shelton.” The webloid goes on to speculate about a different scenario, saying, “Another possibility is that Christina Aguilera gave [the powers that be] at the show an ultimatum, either Gwen goes or she goes. They decided to keep Gwen on as an advisor for Blake Shelton’s team, so Christina Aguilera made good on her promise and walked.
None of this, however, is accurate. In fact, it contradicts CDL’s own prior “reporting” (and we use that term loosely). Last November, the outlet said Aguilera was going to be kicked off “The Voice” so Stefani could be on season 10 as coach. That, of course, didn’t happen, just like Gossip Cop said it wouldn’t.
Then after news of the coach changes broke a few days ago, CDL claimed Stefani wasn’t returning as a “Voice” coach because Shelton felt “smothered” by her and didn’t want her on the show. But now the couple conspired to get Aguilera fired?
Hardly. The truth is actually much more boring, but is probably why others are choosing to sensationalize the situation. As Gossip Cop has previously noted, and as a source exclusively tells us now, Aguilera “always takes a season off, and next season is no different.”
It’s really as simple as that, and to say otherwise is misrepresenting the situation. And should Aguilera choose to leave the show for good, you’ll hear it from her. Not an outlet like Celeb Dirty Laundry.
