Christina Aguilera “Sad” About Canceled Whitney Houston Hologram Duet
As Gossip Cop reported, Aguilera recently taped a performance using hologram technology, and it was expected to air on next week’s season finale of “The Voice.” But after negative fan reaction when footage of the duet leaked online on Thursday, Pat Houston said they would not air it as planned. Now that the broadcast is off, Aguilera is commenting on the project for the first time.
“I was honored that the Houston family asked me to perform a duet with the legendary Whitney Houston on ‘The Voice.’ Sadly the technology could not meet up to the talent that Whitney possessed, but I do know in time the performance the fans and I have been hoping for will come to life.”
As Gossip Cop previously noted, the Houston family announced last year that the wanted to use hologram technology to bring the late superstar back to the stage. “The Voice” performance would have been the first time that actually happened. Pat Houston noted in her own statement, “We were looking to deliver a ground breaking duet performance for the fans of both artists. Holograms are new technology that take time to perfect, and we believe with artists of this iconic caliber, it must be perfect. Whitney’s legacy and her devoted fans deserve perfection.
The message went on, “After closely viewing the performance, we decided the hologram was not ready to air. We have much respect and appreciation for Christina, and she was absolutely flawless.” Also on Friday, it was announced who fans CAN actually look forward to on “The Voice” finale. Coach Blake Shelton, Ariana Grande, Little Big Town, Sia, and Zayn Malik will all be performing. Gossip Cop will have full coverage.
