Christina Aguilera “Anywhere But Here” For Finding Neverland Soundtrack — LISTEN + WATCH Lyric Video Here!
Christina Aguilera debuted her new song “Anywhere But Here” for the soundtrack album of the Broadway show, Finding Neverland. In the Peter Pan-inspired musical, the track is performed by “Glee” star Matthew Morrison in the opening of the play. A lyric video of Aguilera’s rendition was released on YouTube. Listen to the beautiful ballad and watch the clip below.
“Anywhere But Here” showcases Aguilera’s classic vocal styling, even as the song was originally created for a male vocalist. As is usually done in musicals, the song’s lyrics serve to introduce the theme of the play, which is based on the events that led author J.M. Barrie to write Peter Pan. “In my mind it is near. I escape all I fear,” Aguilera sings. “So by closing my eyes, I am anywhere but here.”
The soundtrack album for Finding Neverland, which will be officially released on June 9, will also feature Zendaya, John Legend, Nick Jonas, Jennifer Lopez, Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding, and Trey Songz. While Aguilera hasn’t released her own new album in some time, she did release other new material earlier this year. As Gossip Cop reported, the singer recorded “The Real Thing” and “Shotgun” for her guest stint on “Nashville.” Check out “Anywhere But Here” below, and tell us what you think.
