Christian Bale visited victims of last week’s Colorado theater shooting at an area hospital on Tuesday.

The Dark Knight Rises star reportedly arrived at the Medical Center of Aurora at 2:00 p.m.

Bale’s visit was not announced ahead of time.

Warner Bros., the studio behind The Dark Knight Rises, released a statement noting, ”Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers.”

One of the victims, Carey Rottman, posted a photo of himself with Bale on Facebook (above).

Last Friday, James Holmes killed 12 people and wounded dozens more when he opened fire on a packed midnight showing of the latest Batman film.

On Saturday, Bale commented on the tragedy, saying, “Words cannot express the horror that I feel.”

Gossip Cop will have updates about his hospital visit.

Fantastic. Kudos Mr. bale for acknowledging the injured and showing concern for their distress, pain and suffering.

  • There’s a nice picture on thedenverchannel.com (or their FB at least).

I am so glad that he went to visit the victims. I am more glad that he didn’t do it in character.

a lot of people were putting pressure on him and the studio to visit the victims in character, but I just think that would have been too much for them. Too much for the victims,I mean.

Agreed. Showing up in costume just makes it seem like the shooter was a real life Batman villain. Showing up as himself, an actor, gives the victims a treat and perhaps the hope for an additional visit or other contact someday in the future, but its tied in to Christian Bale the actor, not Batman which for them will forever be tied to what is very likely the worst night of their lives.

    ^ ?

  • Darkeclipse

    huh?

  • D. Martin

I gotta agree with Darkeclipse here…huh? Showing up in character would be very insensitive given the tragedy and make light of it. I can’t imagine that would even cross someone’s mind.

  • Lindsey

Aw, that’s very nice of him. Especially because he didn’t do it for publicity.

  • Regina1180

People actually started a petition to get all of the actors out to CO in character.

That’s exactly what Chuck is saying.

  • Chloe

WOW! He just went a couple of my notches in my book.

  • Claire

We like this very very much Mr. Bale….you received no pay for this act of kindness….we should all take something very positive away from this story. Cheers!

  • Alma_la_chica

That is a true hero, i dont care if he went with warner brothers or without his acts are what gives us all hope that our hero will always be out there with us no matter how horrible the incident is. May all those wounded recover ans may god take the rest with him to heaven.

  • Sir

    Class act, Mr. Bale.

  • just me

might be really hard for him to do it, but this is what an every-day-real-life hero does facing something so challenging.
