This marks the first time Stapleton has been the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live.” The country music singer and songwriter is on a roll. His debut album Traveller was number on the Billboard 200 chart, and has picked up a slew of awards, including Album of the Year at November’s CMA Awards, where Stapleton also walked away with the honors for Male Vocalist and New Artist of the Year. And in December, he was nominated for four Grammy Awards, including Best Country Solo Performance, Best Country Song, Album of the Year, and Best Country Album.
And while he’s considered a newcomer as a performer, Stapleton is actually a seasoned songwriter, who’s written for and with a slew of big name singers, including Adele, Luke Bryan, Brad Paisley, Peter Frampton, Tim McGraw, and Sheryl Crow. Stapleton’s appearance on “SNL” in support of his album and tour, which runs from January through May, with stops in California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas, and performances abroad in England, Germany, Ireland, and Mexico.
