Chris Kyle, Retired Navy SEAL of NBC’s Stars Earn Stripes, Shot to Death in Texas

Truth rating: 10

(NBC)

Chris Kyle, the retired Navy SEAL who wrote the bestseller “American Sniper” and appeared on the NBC show “Stars Earn Stripes,” was shot to death near Glen Rose, Texas on Saturday.

A legendary long-range marksman who served in Iraq with the Navy SEALS, Kyle was killed at the Rough Creek Lodge shooting range by 25-year-old Iraq and Afghanistan vet Eddie Ray Routh.

Routh was arrested a short time later, and is being questioned as to why he killed the decorated Navy SEAL.

Kyle was credited with having the most kills in U.S. military history.

Dean Cain, who competed in “Stars Earn Stripes,” tweeted, “2013 started out fantastic…Now it’s a heartbreak. #SadDay.”

And Sarah Palin wrote on Facebook: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and many friends of former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle tonight. Todd and I first met Chris in Pella, Iowa, when he helped out with security for the premiere of the film “The Undefeated.” And later we became friends with Chris when he was on ‘Stars Earn Stripes’ with Todd. Chris was a wonderful man, a good friend, and a true American hero who loved our country and served honorably. He was loved and admired by so many, and he will never be forgotten.”

Kyle leaves behind a wife and two children.

  • Waddle

Go to hell. The people he killed he killed for the protection of this country.

  • Katie

Maybe you should ask all the people he saved if it made a difference…..unbelievable comments by ungrateful people.

  • Chloe

This is a sad tragic end to an American Hero’s story, GOD Bless his family in their time of sorrow. I believe he truly loved his country and would have die for it. I want to know why this man decided to kill Chris, was to get fame for killing such a decorated American? Guns yet again…

“Credited with having most kills in American military history”…..?!?!
Is this anything to be credited with?!?!
Oh my dear God….where am I living in?!
Does anyone try to think, that from all those countries under oppression and under political stress, economical pressure, national disputes such as Palestina, Northern Ireland, Tibet, Pakistan, …..and on and on and on, where they trying to reach certain compromise, to do anything not to enter the war, for centuries……….is America the one country that goes in war ……..with itself?!
There is no one attacking USA, and never was.
War of propaganda…that’s the war America is with.
Engine powered by invented pride, certain intention to achieve peak by entering conflicts, to prove everyone how strong USA really is, ….seriously?!?!
America is full of Americans who living their ordinary life, studying, going to work, raising their families, living their life.
But as everywhere, there are people who seem to unable to live outside “casarne gates”!
And of course, governments, always hungry for more, loosing its power currency, looking for another colony to boost the dollar, economy.
By the false statement, to safe every nations from oppression, to spread democracy everywhere, although native citizens still living withouth equal rights, withouth dignity.
When USA is struggling financially, president signing further dept, works shipping overseas, where China buying bit by bit……this country, although on foreign ground, feeling the need to enter the conflict, sending army that altogether costing milions of dollars, funding other countries too( Israel for instance), for nothing back? For no profit? Just to spread democracy?! Really….?!?!
And people are proud, and decorated with ” most kills”?!
    I rest my case…..

9/11 was an attack on the US…Pearl Harbor, we were attacked by Japan…please do not say the US was NEVER attacked

  • MissZee

no because i can almost bet that those that he did kill were for the greater good.so people will not ask. and if you think about it, he was given orders to kill

  • MissZee

from what i read from a newspaper, he and another friend were trying to help a another marine vet cope with PTSD..and i think they thought the gun range was the way to go, but what they didn’t expect was the guy to kill them…and guns are the problem, people are. im my opinion, the use of guns as a weapon isn’t the issue…the mental state of individuals is what should be talked about

  • Joe

“The people he killed he killed for the protection of this country.”

    Are you serious????
Are your soldiers fighting and killing “enemies on American ground??
have your country been attacked by these countries your soldiers has been invaded??
If Afganistan, Iran, Irak, Vietnam, etc etc are all America?
Did any of these countries ever came to America and attack you?!
Or it is OPPOSITE, american soldiers are all over the world, killing people, DEFENDING their country???!!!!
Pleeease, sit in the front of mirror and see reality of your DEFENCE!!!!
Not all people have been brainwashed and ignorant, you know

  • Joe

    He saved who??
You, sitting on your fat asses thousands miles away in YOUR country, and he had to got to OTHER countries to SAVE you???
Your poor, ignorant, brainwashed souls are the one that needs to be saved
I feel sorry for your hopeless nation.
And don’t call me ungrateful, as I am very GRATEFUL for not being SAVED and NOT being american:)
U need reality check, and wake up, ASAP; big time!
In the country where I live, we are welcome everywhere with our passport, we don’t have to fear to enter any country or fear to say what country we are coming from (read we are not americans:)))
May God have a mercy on your lost souls…..

  • Joe

So because of “so called” attack 911 and Pearl Harbour you have right to attack all other countries (but not JAPAN) 60-70 years later???? And all the years between and after???
    Haha, don’t make me laugh.
Do you realize how shallow and stupid your theory sounds?
The most money USA makes is weapons and oil, we all know that
To test weapons, you need a target, to sell weapons you need a buyer, to get rid of old weapons, you need a buyer again which makes a perfect excuse for all the “wars”, as without the wars all over the world, to whom would you sell the weapons or test it.
americans were always aggressors, and I am ashamed to be a part of the world who allows it!

  • Joe

Couldn’t agree more with u my friend
I am glad that more and more people see “poor attacked” americans in the right light, to see the truth:)

  • MissZee

did i say the US hasn’t attacked places? No i didn’t. All I am saying is that the US HAS been attacked. History has proven this. I know the War in Iraq was a pointless war and the US Gov’t decided to invade just because they wanted to…same with Vietnam. So, please, do not put words into my mouth when you have absolutely no idea what I believe my country is/isn’t

  • Waddle

hahaha you’re right terrorists from Iraq (and you call me ignorant, at least I knew how to spell it) didn’t come over here and hijacked a plane that killed thousands american lives. you’re right that didn’t happen! if american soldier weren’t over the world defending this nation they’d come over to america and attack us because they have before. American soldiers don’t kill without reason.

  • katie

oh thanks glad to hear you aren’t an American :)

  • Usamed

    This is not advertising space.

  • MissZee

    You poor*… ones that need*… You need a reality check*…welcomed everywhere*…

but other than the misspelled words, you still are incorrect. I know of plenty of other countries where, we, Americans are loved, not feared. Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, Turkey, and there are others

  • Joe

i am resting, we are not on the same level, newer was, and never will be
As for a spelling, maybe, but u know, English is my (not second,)but fourth language, therefore I am kind of “entitled” for spelling errors, don’t u agree?
Oh, wait, u don’t get it, ur too stupid and speak only one language; WAR and KILLING (I guess it’s american english)

  • Joe

Now we are talking a bit reality:0
    Ur waking up
    Slowly, but….
    Txs fr honest answer:)

  • MissZee

no one is entitled to anything. you just think you are. and if English is your fourth language, then you should be outsmarting us Americans with proper English. But, either you can’t do it or you really don’t know how to

  • joe

The blame for Iraq falls upon the lying Republican Neo-Cons that led us into that war to advance their political agenda. Like our heroes of Vietnam, the heroes of Iraq paid the price for misguided policy. Their service is not diminished and our debt to them not lessened.

  • Joe

    :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

  • Joe

    :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

  • J F

Joe … let’s ask that of every veteran who ever served in the defense of this country because that’s what you’re saying. This man wasn’t indiscriminately mowing down civilians with abandon he was doing the work he was trained to do. And if you feel he did his job less than honorably then please give your evidence; I’d love to read it. Barring that, you’re just another person who questions the methods used in defense of this country against those who would do us harm. In short, if you’re a terrorist or have thrown in with such groups and a U.S. sniper takes you out when the opportunity presents itself, well … there you are. You play with the big boys you take that chance.

When will it end? Even the American heroes are not safe. Maybe they should start carrying weapons here. Who would believe that the country he served so great would serve up an assassin to hit on him. How sad and infuriating that we failed him so miserably.

  • MissZee

In the state of Texas, the citizens are allowed to carry guns in public places. they just have to be secured in their holsters.
