Chris Harrison Apologizes To “Bachelor” Fans For “Bachelorette” Spoiler
Chris Harrison is apologizing to fans of “The Bachelor” who are upset that “The Bachelorette” casting news spoiled the current season.
As Gossip Cop reported, Rachel Lindsay will be the next bachelorette. The news leaked early Monday, ahead of an official announcement on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Then on Tuesday, Lindsay appeared on “GMA” to discuss her new gig.
But many viewers have cried foul because the casting announcement came while Lindsay is still competing for Nick Viall’s affections on “The Bachelor.” As Gossip Cop reported, though taped last year, Monday night’s episode featured Viall choosing his hometown dates, and that included plans to go on one with Lindsay. Now, however, fans know that she’s eventually eliminated, thanks to “The Bachelorette” news.
The casting of the new bachelorette typically isn’t unveiled until after said star’s journey wrapped up on “The Bachelor.” But that wasn’t the case here, and a number of fans have complained about Viall’s season, or at least part of it, getting spoiled. Harrison, who appeared on “Kimmel” to help unveil Lindsay’s casting, is now addressing the backlash.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday afternoon, he wrote, “I’m sorry about the timing of the announcement. I hate that anything was ruined for #BachelorNation but I’m incredibly excited that @therachlindsay is our new #TheBachelorette.”
Harrison added, “A smart, strong, independent Texan who loves her @dallascowboys What more could a man want?” He also shared the above photo, but the post garnered some more negative feedback. “Very disappointed. All your viewers thought she was a front runner and the network ruined what’s to come,” wrote one commenter.
